Jira

Jira provides the most flexibility and customization options out of the Jira and Trello options. Jira supports any agile project management methodology that your team might need. From agile planning to fully customizable Kanban and Scrum boards, Jira gives you the tools you need to estimate, report and measure velocity with workflows designed to fit your frameworks.

Jira is the home for all teams to manage projects and processes across the company. No matter your department or the complexity of your work, Jira enables your team to easily collaborate, align, and deliver work in one place. Jira has a simple interface with multiple views of your tasks to include board, list, calendar, and timeline views.

Jira  is the best choose for software development teams but non technical teams may also prefer the flexibility that they get with the ability to create boards that display tasks and tickets from projects across multiple tools such as Jira Service Management and Jira

You can use Advanced Planning guides functionality available to us with our premium version to support tracking timelines and dependencies.

Staff that are new to Jira can request a Jira project & license to get started by selecting consultation request.

Staff that already have Jira licenses and are familiar with using Jira can use our new automated Jira project creation found at go.lehigh.edu/requestatlassian form. Choose new project option and enter a project name and key and once you submit the request the automation will kick in and the project will be created for you, using our standard project workflow, permission, and notification scheme. An email notification will be sent letting you know that your project has been created with a link to the project and instructions on managing the project. We hope that this enhancement helps provide more of a self service feel to Jira project creation.  Please note that this automation is only in place for Jira and does not apply to Jira Service Management or Trello.

Welcome to Jira walks through all the detailed components of Jira to include a section discussing boards & viewsissue hierarchy (epics, stories, tasks, and subtasks)searching, and reporting & dashboards

Sample Jira project about implementing a new scholarship management system that illustrates epics, stories, tasks, and subtasks. I assigned start dates and due dates which when viewed in the Calendar and Timeline view, give you the more traditional Gantt chart view. If you expand and look at EX-19 in that view, you will also see how dependencies are represented in the Timeline view. Please note: this example is for Jira feature demonstration and does not represent realistic timelines nor all dependencies. NOTE: You must have a Jira license to access this project.

Request additional licenses for other project team members.
