LastPass for Faculty and Staff

LastPass is Lehigh's selected vendor for password management, and managed accounts can be provisioned online from the Lehigh LastPass Enrollment website.  Follow the instructions below to provision, activate, and begin using your account.

NOTE:  If you already have an existing personal LastPass account, using a Lehigh email address, it is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED that you change the email address associated with that account BEFORE enrolling in a new, managed, Lehigh LastPass account. LastPass has a support page with step-by-step instructions for updating the email address associated with that account.

.

1.  Enroll in Lehigh LastPass on Lehigh's Enrollment Portal

Faculty and staff must enroll in LastPass through the LastPass Self-Enrollment Portal.  (https://accounts.lehigh.edu/tools/lastpass/self-enroll).

On the web page, click on the 'Enroll' button.

This will initiate the provisioning process, which will result in an email invitation to join LastPass, but can take up to two hours.

In the meantime. . .

2.  Install the LastPass client program for your browser.

Logging in through one of the client programs is required to activate your LastPass account, and having it installed ahead of time makes that easy.

  1. Open your web browser of choice.
  2. Go to the LastPass download page (https://lastpass.com/misc_download2.php).
  3. Click on the 'Quick Install' button.
  4. Click on 'Add Extension' to add the extension to your browser.

3a.  Check your Email for the LastPass invitation.

These steps are for the majority of users that do not have an existing LastPass account using their Lehigh email address. If you have an existing LastPass personal account under your Lehigh email, please skip to step 3b.

  1. In the “LastPass Account Created” email invitation, note or copy the 'Activation code', then click on Activate LastPass.
  2. You'll be taken to the LastPass activation screen.
  3. Enter or paste your 'Activation code' from your invitation email, then click the continue button.
  4. When your code has been entered successfully, you'll be taken to a 'Congratulations' page.
  5. Skip to step 4 below.

If you don't receive an invitation to claim your LastPass account, or your invitation has expired, you may request an account by emailing the Help Desk.

3b.  Check your Email for the LastPass invitation.

These steps are for the users that  have an existing LastPass account using their Lehigh email address. If you do not, you will receive the email described in step 3a. Disregard this step and skip to 4.

  1. In the “LastPass Account Created” email invitation, click on Activate LastPass.
  2. You'll be taken to the LastPass login screen.

If you don't receive an invitation to claim your LastPass account, or your invitation has expired, you may request an account by emailing the Help Desk.

 4.  Log into the LastPass Client with your Lehigh credentials.

  1. If necessary, click on the 'puzzle-piece' icon to display the extensions menu (in Chrome), and click on the 'pushpin' icon next to the LastPass entry to enable the display of the LastPass extension icon.  Once displayed, you can click the LastPass extension icon to go to the LastPass login screen.
  2. On the LastPass login screen, enter your Lehigh email address, and click "Log In" (note how the password field disappears when '@lehigh.edu' is entered).
  3. In the Lehigh-Logo password box, enter your Lehigh password.  A Duo Multifactor prompt will come up next.

5. Set up another device with LastPass

Remember that you can log into LastPass from multiple devices, (for example, try installing on a Mobile Device) but when you do, you may get an email verification challenge.  If logging in doesn't appear to work on a new device, simply check your email, and click the approval button to "Verify New Device or Location", and go back to the device and re-try the login.
