Sharing Zoom Recordings from Dropbox through Course Site

If you have already set Zoom to automatically store recordings in Dropbox and now wish to share those videos through your course in Course Site, there are two options for doing so:

  • Option 1 (recommended): Download Zoom recordings from Dropbox and upload to Panopto
  • Option 2: Add Dropbox link as a URL resource in Course Site

Option 1: Download Zoom recordings from Dropbox and upload to Panopto

Putting your Zoom recordings into Panopto has a few advantages. Students in the course will be able to access all of the course videos without the need for explicit links. The Panopto viewer offers additional tools such as auto captioning, the ability to bookmark sections or chapters of the video, and a place for students to take notes. Panopto videos can also easily be moved over into new courses each semester.

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Navigate to the file you want to share, hover over the 3 dots to the right of the file, and select Download.

  3. Follow the instructions for Uploading Media to Panopto. Once your videos are in Panopto, they will be accessible to your students. You can also easily add links to sections in your Course Site to specific Panopto videos.

Option 2: Add Dropbox video link as a URL resource in Course Site

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click All files in the left sidebar.
  3. Navigate to the file or folder you'd like to share, hover over and click Share icon (person).

  4. If a link hasn't been created, click Create.  OR If a link was already created, click Copy link.
  5. Log into your course in Course Site.
  6. Click the "Turn Editing On" button in the top right.
  7. Click the "Add an activity or resource" link in the section where you want to add your video link.
  8. Select URL from the list.
  9. Give the resource a title and paste the Dropbox link into the URL field.
    1. IMPORTANT: In order to assure that the video displays properly in the Dropbox viewer, you MUST also change the display option under the "Appearance" heading to New Window.

  10. Click "Save and Return to Course.
