DMS Equipment and Instructions for Online and Blended Teaching

To borrow any of the following equipment please contact inmediad@lehigh.edu.

Below is a list of equipment available for loan from the Digital Media Studio (DMS) for your synchronous or asynchronous teaching.  It is categorized by the type of activity you may wish to perform.  Please note, that equipment is limited.  To ask about equipment availability, make reservations, or for a consultation on what equipment is best suited for your teaching goals, please contact inmediad@lehigh.edu.

360 video - For capturing video in full 360 degrees. 

• Create Virtual Tours of places that students cannot visit.

• Creating 360° images with hotspot software to create interactive instructional content.

• Live casting from small classrooms and meetings.

• Fully immersive instructional videos.

• Meetings and conferences in which the video angle will show everyone sitting around a table at the same time.

Equipment available for loan:

1) Ricoh Theta V 360 Instructions - for pre-recorded content (e.g. overview of lab operations)

2) The Meeting Owl 360 Instructions - designed for small live meetings and conferences. Panopto and Zoom compatible.

Audio recording - for capturing high quality audio.

Advantages of a standalone audio recorder:

• Higher audio quality than video camcorder onboard microphones.
• Option to position the microphone closer to the speaker.
• Ability to carry and move the microphone independent of the camera operation.
• Portability and ease of use.
• Saves in .mp3 and .wav format.

Equipment available for loan:

1) Tascam DR-05 Audio Recorder Instructions - for pre-recorded audio.

2) Blue Yeti USB Microphone Instructions - for pre-recorded audio or live meetings. Panopto and Zoom compatible.

3) Classroom Microphones - for live events only in specific classrooms. Panopto and Zoom compatible, only works in listed rooms.

Conference Kits - for live meeting and lectures. Panopto and Zoom compatible.

Advantages of the conferencing kits:

• High quality noise cancelling speaker and microphone than your laptop may provide.
• A webcam that can be aimed anywhere in the room, independent of the laptop web camera.

Equipment available for loan:

1) Conferencing Kit Instructions - designed for live meetings and conferences. Panopto and Zoom compatible.

2) Logitech StreamCam Plus Webcam  - designed for live meetings and conferences.

3) The Meeting Owl 360 Instructions - designed for live meetings and conferences. Panopto and Zoom compatible.

Webcam - for individual live meetings and lectures. Panopto and Zoom compatible.

Advantages of the webcam:

• High quality USB webcam with a built in mic that can be used if you do not already have one on your PC.
• Can be aimed anywhere in the room, independent of your laptop web camera.

Equipment available for loan:

1) Logitech- C920 Webcam

Document Cameras - for live display of documents and slides. Panopto and Zoom compatible.

Advantages of a document camera: 

• Compatible with Panopto and Zoom for both live and pre-recorded material.
• Ability to show slides and graphics that are not digitized.
• Draw or write to display content live to your viewers.
• Zoom in on content to show sections of the slide/page in a close up.
• Freeze an image on the screen to eliminate any camera shake.

1) Elmo MX-P2 Document Camera Instructions - for live and pre-recorded content. Panopto and Zoom compatible.

2) IPEVO VZ-R Document Camera - for live and pre-recorded content. Panopto and Zoom compatible.

Video Recording - for pre-recorded video capture. 

• Camcorders provide more manual control over video adjustments and picture settings versus a web camera.
• Easy to download and edit video with editing software such as iMovie (Mac) or Premiere (Windows) or Panopto.
• File can be uploaded and shared to any location of your choosing. (Google Drive, YouTube, Panopto, Ensemble).

1) Canon HF R600 Camcorder Instructions - for pre-recorded content.

2) Zoom Q2N Instructions - for pre-recorded content.

Annotation Tablet

Advantages of a digital tablet: 

• Digital Tablets allow for real time annotation 
• Allows freeform drawing within applications like Powerpoint & Photoshop
• Plug and play with Mac/PC
