Opening a new Lehigh Account

Lehigh computing accounts provide access to a large range of LTS and Lehigh services. You will use these account credentials to access most Lehigh services, including G Suite (email, calendar, cloud storage), Banner (registration, compensation), and Course Site (our Moodle-based Learning Management System), and others.

If you have just been admitted to Lehigh, the Admissions Office will provide you with instructions and a link to activate your account.

First-time account activation

If you are a Faculty/Staff, Student, Visitor, Temporary Contractor, or Vendor, your personal email address will be registered in our system, and then you can go to accounts.lehigh.edu/new to request a temporary password be generated and emailed to you.  With that temporary password and your username you can use lehigh.edu/change to setup your account and password.

Lehigh password requirements

Lehigh passwords must meet the following requirements:

  • Is at least 8 characters long, but longer is better.  A multi-word passphrase is best.
  • Contains at least 1 non-letter character (number or symbol).

After you enter your password (system processing)

After the password is entered and verified, the system will synchronize your account with Lehigh services. Do not navigate from the page until you see the red Finished message.  On the Finished  page you will see details about your account, including...

  • A reminder on the last page of the password change process will also display information about our emergency alert system, HawkWatch, which can send voice and text messages to a cellphone number, and a mobile app.  The system is used for critical alerts and safety information, as well as other services of the LU Police Department.
  • The date of your next password change will be displayed on the last page.  Email reminders will be sent to your Lehigh email account to remind you.
  • If you don't see the Finished message, any error message or problems with the password change will be noted here.

Duo two-factor authentication

During or after the password change process, you will be prompted to set up Duo two-factor authentication
