Use a Wacom Tablet on a Building C iMac

Art classes in the Mac labs in Building C make use of Wacom drawing tablets, but doing so requires a few extra steps to make them work for each user.

Three things are required to make them work:

  1. The Wacom Tablet Driver must be installed.
  2. The system must be restarted with that driver installed.
  3. The user of the tablet must allow 'Input Monitoring' for the WacomTabletDriver in the system's Privacy and Security Settings pane.

1.  Click on the 'Finder' icon, click on the 'Applications' folder, and then double-click on the 'Managed Software Center' icon.

The text under the entry for the 'WacomIntuosProDriver' should say 'Installed' and the button should say 'Remove'.  If the button says 'Install', click on it to install the software.  It should only take a few moments.

2.  Under the 'Apple' menu, select 'Restart', and log back in with your Lehigh username and password.

3.  Open the 'System Settings' app, and navigate to the 'Privacy and Security' pane.  On the right, click on 'Input Monitoring'.  Under 'Input Monitoring', click the toggle so that it shows blue, to enable the system to use the tablet.

4.  Plug in the tablet, and open the 'Wacom Center' application in the 'Applications' folder if it doesn't open automatically.  The Intuos tablet should be listed with various settings that can be changed.
