When using the LastPass Password Manager app for Android, set up biometric authentication (facial recognition or fingerprint identification) as a means of account recovery in case your master password is ever forgotten.
You must log in to the LastPass Password Manager app with your email address and master password before you can set up account recovery using biometrics.
Regardless of how you use LastPass (desktop app, web browser extension, mobile app), it is strongly recommended that you set up mobile account recovery in case other recovery options are not able to be used.
Once set up and enabled, you can reset your master password using biometrics (only using this mobile device) to restore access to your vault. Don't worry, if you skip this step when you were initially prompted, you can always enable it later in the LastPass Password Manager app's Security settings. Alternatively, you can recover your account by using a password hint that you set up when you created or last reset your master password.
Please be aware that LastPass Support has no knowledge of a user's master password. It is not possible for LastPass Support to reset or change a user's master password if it is forgotten.
■ Enable biometrics and account recovery
Important: This feature does not replace the requirement of entering your master password when accessing your vault by logging in to the app.
Biometrics are used for authentication in the following scenarios:
- When you have enabled the "Reprompt for master password" feature (globally or specific site entries).
- When you have saved your master password in the app's login page, and are returning back to the app. Additionally, you must tap the Vault Options icon and go to and toggle on the switch for Lock LastPass automatically.
- If you have enabled the Reprompt for Master Password setting in the App Fill window.
To enable biometrics and account recovery in LastPass for your mobile device, do the following:
- Open the LastPass Password Manager app and log in with your email address and master password.
- Select the Vault Options icon in the upper-left of the screen.
- Go to .
- Toggle on the switch for the Unlock with biometrics setting.
- To enable account recovery, toggle on the Account Recovery setting.
- Verify using fingerprint or facial recognition.
LastPass is now enabled to use biometrics and account recovery for Android.
■ Use a password hint (recommended)

LastPass apps are available for Android and iOS. Be aware that a sign-in attempt on a second device will result in an emailed verification challenge.
1. Faculty and Staff: Be sure you have already enrolled and activated your account first!
Then, on your device, head to your respective App Store or Play Store, search for 'LastPass', and download it.
2. Open the app, and make a login attempt.
- Swipe past the first intro screen, and get to the login screen, and enter your Lehigh email address.
- When you enter your Lehigh email address, you'll see a request for re-direction to the Lehigh SSO login. Go ahead, and then enter your Lehigh password on the Lehigh-logo login, and continue with the Duo prompt.
- You'll get a note that the device must be verified.
3. Check your email for the verification request from LastPass.
Click on "Verify New Device or Location".
4. Go back to the LastPass app, log in again, and activate your device's features.
- Remember, faculty and staff should be using the Lehigh login window.
- On Android devices, the first time you log into the LastPass app, you'll be asked to enable "AutoFill". This is an Android feature that allows other apps to communicate with LastPass to fill in passwords. This is a highly useful feature, and is recommended.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to switch to the Android Accessibility settings screen, and set the LastPass toggle to the "on" setting.
- On iOS devices, the first time you log into LastPass app, you'll be prompted to enable the relevant biometric login, either TouchID or FaceID. These features allow iOS to automatically open LastPass using your fingerprint or face. It's also highly recommended.
