Paraview

ParaView is an open-source, multi-platform data analysis and visualization application. ParaView users can quickly build visualizations to analyze their data using qualitative and quantitative techniques. The data exploration can be done interactively in 3D or programmatically using ParaView’s batch processing capabilities.

ParaView was developed to analyze extremely large datasets using distributed memory computing resources. It can be run on supercomputers to analyze datasets of petascale size as well as on laptops for smaller data, has become an integral tool in many national laboratories, universities and industry, and has won several awards related to high performance computation.

Required modules

  1. mvapich2/2.3.4 OR mpich/3.3.2

Paraview is built with the default gcc compiler, you need to unload all compiler modules - best to run module purge before loading mpich or mvapich2


Open OnDemand

 Select Visualization from the Interactive Apps dropdown.

 Select Paraview from the dropdown list and choose the resources you want to use. Click "Launch" to submit your request to the SLURM scheduler.

 When resources are available, a blue "Launch Visualization" button will appear. Click the button to launch Paraview.
