You can also embed most Google files in your course site using the "Google Embed Tool". The Google Assignments file embed tool automatically manages file-sharing permissions so the course can access and view the files. Why would this be useful? For instance, if you would like to link your syllabus that you created in a Google doc each semester and update as the semester progresses, you can.  Students will then not have to download an updated version, but rather click on a link to your embedded syllabus and not have to leave your course site. If you embed a Google file in your course and make changes, your embedded file is also updated.

Google File embed does not currently work with Google Forms – but here is a workaround.


Proper Use of Media Files

In order to share media files that you did not author (such as video) in your courses, you must obtain proper copyright permissions.   To verify that you have the rights for non-original video, please complete a streaming video request.  If you have questions, please contact Dan Huang, our acquisitions librarian, directly.
