File Management

Open OnDemand provides a convenient way to edit and transfer files. The former reduces the need to learn how to use vi/vim or emacs. It is advantageous to learn how to use vi/vim or emacs, especially vim when trying to read large files in the order of a few GB. Your home directory can be accessed by clicking the Files dropdown and then clicking Home Directory. If this is your first time logging into Sol, you should see an  empty home directory else all files in your home directory will be listed. Click on the folder name to open that folder. Click the (..) to go one directory up.


You can use OOD to 

  1. create and delete files and directories
  2. edit and view files
  3. upload and download files and directories between Sol and your local system
