Create a Turnitin LTI Assignment

These instructions are for creating a new Turnitin LTI Assignment. Please see this page for instructions on copying an existing assignment.

  1. Sign in to your Course Site.

  2. Toggle on Edit Mode (upper right-hand corner).

  3. In the area you want the Assignment to appear, click the "add an activity or resource" and Select Turnitin Assignment LTI

4. On the New External Tool page, type in the name of your assignment in the Activity Name field, then scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save and Display.

  1. In the External Tool tab, click on the Gear Icon at the top right side of the display. Here, you can adjust your assignment due dates. Click on the Optional Settings icon at the lower left side of the display to adjust additional common submission settings. When all of your dates and settings are configured, be sure to click the Submit button to save.

  2. Under the Optional Settings menu, you can configure file submission types, allow late submissions, or attach a grading rubric to the assignment. You can also adjust how Turnitin checks papers using its similarity report, whether resubmissions are allowed, and when students can view their reports.

  3. When all of your dates and settings are configured, be sure to click the Submit button at the bottom of the page to save.

Always return to this External Tool tab to readjust any due date and submission settings for an assignment you’ve created.
