Using Zoom for Meetings
In our Flex Workplace environment, many meetings will likely require the use of Zoom to include people on-campus and those working remotely. Zoom conferencing allows all attendees to connect from their individual computers, either at work or from home, in an online meeting space. In some cases, faculty and staff may choose to gather in a conference room on-campus and need to use Zoom from that meeting room to connect to people working remotely. Below are recommendations for equipment that can be purchased by your department to meet the needs of these hybrid meetings.
Equipment for Purchase
- The Logitech Meetup is an all-in-one device - web cam, microphone and speakers - that integrates with an existing in-room computer/monitor setup. The Meetup is typically connected to a computer and wall-mounted monitor that faces a conference table (see sample configuration.) Zoom can be run from an in-room computer with audio input/output and video input designated as the Meetup.
- The Meeting Owl is a mobile all-in-one device that includes a voice-activated 360 camera, speaker, and microphone that integrates with an existing in-room computer/monitor setup. The Owl can be taken to conferencing spaces and set up on an as-needed basis. Zoom can be run from an in-room computer with audio input/output and video input designated as the Meetup. Instruction on setup and use of the Owl can be found here.
CITL's Learning Spaces Design can provide consultation on equipment needs and project pricing. Please submit a 'Classroom Technology' help ticket for assistance.
Equipment to Borrow
The Digital Media Studio has conferencing equipment available to be borrowed for specific meetings or events including the Meeting Owl, described above, and web-conferencing kits that include a ClearOne microphone/speaker and Logitech web cam. Contact the DMS at inmediad@lehigh.edu to submit a request to borrow equipment.
Classrooms with Conferencing Equipment
LTS has outfitted numerous registrar-scheduled classrooms on campus with conferencing equipment. These rooms are primarily used for courses throughout the year, but when they are not in use for classes they can be reserved using 25Live for events that include in-room and remote attendees. The rooms are designated as HyFlex 2 (two cameras and in-room audio) and HyFlex 2A (auditoriums with two cameras and no audience audio.) A complete list of these spaces can be found on the LTS facilities 'Spaces' by clicking 'HyFlex 2 Classrooms' or 'HyFlex 2A Lecture Halls.'
