One method for deploying Windows-based classroom stations involves booting the system to a USB flash drive. Rufus is a reliable utility for creating bootable USB drives from ISO disk image files. Follow the steps below to prepare your drive.

1. Choose a flash drive with at least 8GB of space, ideally a USB 3 drive, for the best speed.

2. Download your deployment system's ISO file for imaging from the deployment server or obtain it from your consultant.

3. Download Rufus, and install according to the vendor's instructions.

4. Insert your flash drive, and double-click the icon to start Rufus.

5. Make sure the correct USB drive is selected under 'Device'. Size is often the best indicator.

Then, Select your ISO file by clicking the 'Select' button, and navigating to locate your ISO file.

6. Select your partition scheme with the pull-down. Select 'MBR' for older, BIOS-based systems, or 'GPT' for newer, UEFI-based systems. Rufus will automatically set a target system (boot mode) based on the partition scheme.

7. Click Start. Watch the progress bar, and wait for the process to finish. Click Close. Safely eject your flash drive.
