Creating Podcasts Using Audacity & Anchor
Audacity is a free, cross-platform, audio recording and editing software. It allows users to record and edit the elements needed to create a podcast. These videos will provide an overview for the software, and walk you through the process of creating a podcast using Audacity.
Anchor is a free platform designed for easy hosting and distribution of podcasts. Anchor also creates an embed code that can easily be inserted into a WordPress site that will allow for easy sharing. Once you create an account, you will be prompted to name your podcast and upload cover art.
The next step is to upload your podcast you created in Audacity to Anchor.
Simply drag and drop your .mp3 or .wav file into the space provided and wait for it to process and click Save Episode.
At that point you will be able to name the episode and add a description. This is a good place to add any credits you would like to accompany your show.
Beneath the episode description is the Publish Date dropdown. Publish now is the default, but here is where you can modify the date that it becomes available to others.
Once finished, click Publish Now in the upper right corner.
If you want to delete an already published file, just click the ellipsis next to the file in the episode list and click delete episode.
If you wish to share your podcast directly to others you can choose from one of the options at the top of your Dashboard. These choices include Facebook, Twitter a direct URL or an embed code that will work in WordPress.
