H5P (short for HTML5 Package) is an open-source, browser-based tool used to create, share, and reuse interactive digital content. Instead of just displaying flat text or static video, it allows you to build engaging learning elements—like videos with embedded quiz questions, virtual 360° tours, interactive books, flashcards, and drag-and-drop activities—without needing to know how to code.

Step 1: Create the Content

  1. Go to your course site.

  2. In the top navigation menu, click More and select Content bank.

  3. Click Add and choose your desired content type (e.g., Interactive Video), or click Upload to import an existing .h5p file.

  4. Build your activity and click Save.

Step 2: Display It on Your Course Site

  1. Return to your course site and toggle Edit mode on (top right).

  2. Click + Add an activity or resource in the section where you want the content to appear.

  3. Select the blue H5P activity icon.

  4. Enter a Name for the activity.

  5. In the Package file box, click the File icon to open the file picker.

  6. Select Content bank from the sidebar, click your saved H5P file, and choose Link to the file (so future edits update automatically).

  7. Adjust your Grade settings if needed, then click Save and return to course.
