Personal email update instructions

 

Why is keeping your “external” or “personal” email address up to date important?

Your Lehigh email account access is linked to your active status as a student, faculty, or staff member. If you rely solely on your @lehigh.edu address for account recovery, you may encounter difficulties accessing your account if you ever lose your password or need to recover your account for any reason after you are no longer actively affiliated with the University. An external or personal email address provides a permanent and reliable method for account recovery.

 

Both steps below must be completed to ensure the information is updated across all systems that send important notifications and for account recovery.

Account issues will eventually present themselves if both systems do not have the same personal email address. Save yourself a call to the Help Desk and update both systems

Note: Each time your personal email changes, the steps must be completed again to make sure our systems reflect the changes.

 

Step 1: How to update your recovery email in self-service Banner (SSB)

 

To the right are sample screenshots to walk you through the process.

  1. Navigate to Banner Self Service

  2. Enter your LU username and password

  3. Complete Duo if prompted

  4. From the dashboard, click on the “My Profile” (located under your name)

  5. Click on the pencil icon to edit the Emails section

  6. In the Email section click on add new

  7. Choose “Home/Personal” in the email type drop down

  8. Enter your personal email address

  9. Do NOT mark as preferred and click on the “Add” button.

 

 

NOTE: If you receive the error that the record already exists, then you have previously updated your Banner record with the email address you entered.

Step 2: In LTS Systems

  1. Navigate to Change Account Credentials - Lehigh University.

  2. Enter your LU username and password.

  3. Under “Select what you’d like to do” choose the option to “Update recovery email”.

  4. Click on continue and follow the prompts.
