Course Site features 2026

Currently Available Course Site Upgrades

These upgrades will include several enhancements.

TinyMCE

TinyMCE will replace the former deprecated Atto editor in Course Site. TinyMCE, a rich text editor, serves as the visual content editor for the Course Site, allowing you to format text, insert media, and create complex layouts without needing to write any underlying HTML code.

Upcoming Course Site features 2026

Beginning Summer 2026, the instructional technology team will upgrade Course Site from Moodle 4.5 to Moodle 5.1.

Activity and Resource Categories

Updated purpose-based categories for adding activities and resources to your course.

  • In Course Site 5.1, the "Add an Activity or Resource" window has been reorganized to group tools by pedagogical purpose (how you intend to teach) rather than just alphabetical order or technical type. This helps you find the right tool based on your learning goal.

  • The Standard Tabs

    • Recommended: (Default) Displays a short list of tools specifically curated by Lehigh’s Instructional Technology Team as the "standard" or most highly recommended options.

    • Starred: Shows your personal favorites. You can "star" any tool you use frequently so it appears here for instant access.

    • All: Lists every single tool available on your Course Site in alphabetical order.

Subsection

The ability to add subsections to better organize course content within a topic. Group related activities and resources together within a single topic, creating a cleaner visual hierarchy that makes content easier to navigate.

Activities tab

The activities tab in the main horizontal navigation bar at the top of your courses lists every active task in the course in one view.

  • What it shows: It displays due dates, completion status, and grading requirements for all Activities such as Assignments, Quizzes, Turnitin, Google Assignments, and more.

  • Why use it: It helps both you and students visualize the workload without scrolling through the specific weekly sections.
